    glow, girl

IMG_4232 IMG_4238This came together so quickly! Some quick watercolor over a Heidi Swapp medallion mask, some leftover bits of paper from Project Life’s first week, and boom. One of my favorite pages to date. I love quick, fast, and beautiful- it took maybe five minutes, max? It’s definitely going to sit on display for a little while before it finds the proper album.

    art friday: project life

It’s been a long time since I consistently collected memories in one place. I have been ever-so-slowly working through a backlog of photographs, but I’ve really missed having an up-to-the-moment collection of what’s going on in our lives. I’ve watched Project Life grow from just a glimmer in Becky Higgin’s eye into an industry unto itself, but I never could get on board before. I loved what I saw Ali and Lisa and Stephanie doing of course, but gracious, where my life was at the time? There was no way, ‘hose. Stephanie started using a Handbook from Studio Calico last year and that’s when it clicked with me- I could do that! I can handle four, four by three spaces! So here’s the beginning: my title page. I would have had the first week done already, save the fact that my printer decided to misbehave. I’ve thought about getting an Epson Picture Mate or a Selphy just for printing pictures- I know that I’d make the cost back pretty quickly in what I end up having to pay to have them printed outside the home. It feels good. I’m glad to know I’ll have a place to collect our stories this year.

    A December Album…

I shared a layout on Friday from a pile of work that had been on my desk for a while but had somehow gotten lost. This album has an interesting history. The pictures included in this are from 2008. I remember that I had hoped to do a December Daily album that year and I apparently did keep track of it enough to have many of the pictures printed out; however, there was not journaling nor arrangement that made sense. Way back last January, right before we moved (or knew that we were moving), I was getting some scrap time in the evenings, and finally started putting this album together. I challenged myself to a very simple palette and only a few products (I’m not sure why now, but I did). It’s a very old SEI album; a Jenni Bowlin stamp from one of the early kits; some old Basic Grey rubons, some alphas that I’m not even sure what brand they are any more; Heidi Swap gems; a 7gypsies 6 in. paper pack, and some shipping tags.

Here’s where it gets funny. We found out we were moving almost as soon as that album was done, and it got packed away with my art stuff. I completely forgot about it. It sat like that until I rediscovered it a few weeks ago, completely shocked at this completed album I remembered nothing about until my husband could jog my memory. And then, it got buried again till Thursday night. So here it is, finally, six years in the making. Enjoy!

    Art Friday- A tiny backlog…

    IMG_4072 IMG_4073 IMG_4074

I ran across some old(er) projects while tidying up my creative space. First up, a two page layout about this year’s first day of school. Lots of paint, misting, and stamping on this one. I didn’t like the original color of the photo corners I used as arrows (on the left and right-side outer corners) and misted them with Studio Calico’s Mister Huey in Amarillo Taxi. There’s also some Opaque White and Leaf Green round and about. The rest are old, old stamps and masks that I’ve had forever and a day.
