Handbook 01.22.17

More trees in a winter landscape. And mountains. Hmmm, I’m sensing a theme here, no? There are no rules for my handbook, except that I come to the page and work each day, so I find it interesting that my color palette has largely been very wintery blues, whites, grays, greens- closer to the end of the Christmas holidays, there was festive pops of red, and there is often a touch of pale yellow somewhere. Very January type colors. It’s perhaps because it is so reflected outside; I often take on the landscape and mood out my window without even thinking about it. (INFJ problems, amiright?) I can’t say I’m very surprised that mountains make an appearance quite a bit, but I have been surprised by the trees. I’ve been asked if I plan the quotes for each day. Sometimes the picture is inspired by a quote, or I have one subtly in mind, but far more often the quotes make themselves known towards the end of the painting. As always, I’m preaching to myself, so often the quotes are driven by something I’m wrestling with or thinking about or wanting more of in my life. Beyond that, there is no further intention, so it’s pretty fun to hear other’s reactions about how perfect a quote was on a particular day for their own lives. 21/365 (Golden Acrylics, Royal & Langnickel Brushes, Handbook Journal Co.)
